Flagging classes with Steve Jenkins, Montana LTAP* Director. The mission of the national Local Technical Assistance Program is to foster a safe, efficient, environmentally sound transportation system by improving skills and knowledge of local transportation providers through training, technical assistance and technology transfer.

Montana has over 70,000 miles of roads in cities, counties and highway districts. Montana LTAP's focus is on assisting state and county road offices and city street departments in road and bridge maintenance and repair. We also provide worker-safety training courses such as flagger certification, traffic control supervisor certification, and forklift certification.

If your area would like to host a flagging class with MTTA sponsoring, contact Steve Jenkins at (406) 994-6100 to arrange a training class.

High Country Safety Training offers a flagging certification class. Shawna began her long career as an instructor over 25 years ago. As a certified Emergency Medical Technician, she knew that bringing this life-saving knowledge to others in her very rural area of Montana would save lives. All of Shawna's certifications are nationally recognized except for Flagging Certification which is a state-to-state process. With that said, Montana does have a reciprocal agreement for certified flaggers with the states of Washington, Oregon and Idaho. This class covers the different aspects of flagging including its inherent dangers and what is required to flag. This class is good for anyone that wants to flag as a job. This class is a 4- to 6-hour class depending upon your needs. Upon class completion, you will get a state-recognized flagging card. Also offered are classes on asbestos awareness, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous waste, CPR, and others. Call Shawna Page at (406) 490-2522 or click here to email Shawna for more information..
